History of the Warsaw Medical University of Tadeusz Koźluk

2022
  • On January 21-22, 2022, the evaluation team of the Polish Accreditation Committee assessed the program of the dietetics course, offered at the Medical University of Warsaw since 2015. The controlled course received a positive assessment.
  • On February 9, 2022, the Medical University of Warsaw signed a partnership agreement with Spółdzielnia Mleczarska MLEKPOL in Grajewo. The parties agreed that cooperation will be implemented in the areas of science, education, training and promotion. One of the most important elements of the agreement is the promotion of a healthy eating style and improvement of healthy eating behaviors. Spółdzielnia Mleczarska MLEKPOL is the undisputed leader of the Polish dairy industry.
  • On March 24, 2022, the charity campaign "We help Ukraine" ended. Students, teaching staff and university administration employees responded to the appeal for help for the struggling Ukraine. Hansgrohe joined the campaign and provided our university with humanitarian aid for Ukraine in the amount of over PLN 40,000. zloty. In total, the university donated several pallets of medical materials, including: plasters, dressing materials, thermal anti-shock blankets, flexible dressing nets, care products, non-woven bedding, hand disinfectants, batteries, and flashlights.
  • On May 28, 2022, the 3rd National Conference of the Medical University of Warsaw was held, the topic of which was "Nursing and midwifery in the era of global challenges and current health needs - an attempt at diagnosis and recommendations". The conference was attended by several speakers representing universities, the Ministry of Health and medical facilities. The 3rd Conference was dedicated primarily to the community of nurses and midwives actively working and at the same time shaping future medical staff.
  • On July 22, 2022, pursuant to Decision 29/VI/2022 of the Minister of Health, the Medical University of Warsaw obtained accreditation for the field of nursing education (first- and second-cycle studies) for a period of 3 years.
  • On July 23, 2022, the end of the 2021/22 academic year took place, during which, for the first time at WUMed, a "capping" ceremony was held - the symbolic induction of graduates of bachelor's studies in nursing as professional nurses. The act of "capping" was performed by university lecturers, high-class nursing specialists: Krystyna Reperowska, M.A., Anna Komorowska, M.A., Ewelina Czeleń, M.A. and Zofia Górska, M.A. Master's degree completion diplomas were presented by Rector Dr. Waldemar Dębski and Vice-Rector Dr. Hab. Joanna Jasińska, and the graduates of first-cycle studies were awarded diplomas by Vice-Rector Dr. Marek Ciecierski.
  • On September 25, the ceremonial inauguration of the next, 32nd academic year in the history of the first private university in Poland took place. During the opening speech of the ceremony, the Rector of WUMed, Dr. Waldemar Dębski, confirmed the plan to continue the development of the university. He announced the creation of further fields of study with a medical profile and health sciences, further modernization and expansion of the teaching base of WUMed. Record enrollment of nearly a thousand first-year students confirmed the growing interest in pursuing studies in medicine and health sciences.
  • In December 2022, the Warsaw Medical University Publishing House published Tadeusz Morawski's book "From the Private College of Business and Administration to the Tadeusz Koźluk Medical University of Warsaw (1991-2021). Subjective history". The study by one of the founders and long-time vice-rector of the University is a pioneering, detailed account of the 30-year history of the first private university in Poland, based on rich source material.

2018-2021

  • In September 2018, the health condition of the Founder and Founder of the university, prof. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk's performance deteriorated significantly, so he resigned from the position of rector. Since the beginning of the 2018/19 academic year, this function has been performed by Waldemar Dębski, Ph.D., appointed by the Founder after seeking the opinion of the Senate. T. Koźluk also appointed Dr. W. Dębski to the position of professor at PWSBiA. W. Dębski has a master's degree in psychology and a doctor of humanities in the field of pedagogy. In the years 2004-2010 he worked at our university, among others. as vice-rector for university development. He was also the president of the "Poland Century XXI" Foundation. The founder also appointed vice-rectors, Dr. Hab. Joanna Jasińska, prof. PWSBiA (for teaching and development) and Ph.D. Eng. J. Rzytki (student affairs). • Work began on a new university strategy, which includes, among others: increasing the number of fields of study in medical sciences, health sciences and physical culture and preparing the university to change its name. • In connection with the new Act of July 20, 2018 on Higher Education and Science, internal university documents have been adapted to its requirements, especially the university's statute and study regulations. A university commission for the quality of education was established and a strategy for the internationalization of studies was developed. • At the request of the Rector, the Minister of Science and Higher Education made decisions regarding the university's new fields of study: first- and second-cycle nursing, physiotherapy (uniform master's studies), cosmetology and second-cycle dietetics. Contracts for professional practice were signed with over 20 hospitals and an Independent Institute of Postgraduate Medical Staff Education was established. The university has acquired several very well-equipped subject rooms and laboratories. • On October 1, 2019, prof. died. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk – Founder, founder, first and long-term rector of our university, builder of the campus, founder of the New Horizons Foundation supporting the university. For 28 years he devoted all his energy and many years of experience to the university and foundations. In accordance with his will, the New Horizons Foundation became the next founder of the university. • On October 21, 2019, the funeral of prof. took place at the Powązki Military Cemetery. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk, which was attended by numerous current and former employees of both the university and the Foundation, as well as representatives of graduates and students. The deceased's grandson, Michał Koźluk, who lives permanently in the USA, was also present.
  • At the beginning of 2020, the Senate appointed, chaired by Dr. Hab. J. Jasińska, the university Commission for the quality of education, which developed a set of actions aimed at improving the quality of education. A Career Office was also established at the university.
  • In the first half of 2020, the rector appointed a committee at the university to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the founding of PWSBiA. It was decided that the most important goal of the celebrations that will begin during the inauguration of the 2020/2021 academic year should be to promote the university, its new name and new fields of study.
  • A special experience in the work of our university in the 2019/2020 academic year were the events related to the spread of the COVID-19 virus, which also reached our country in early March 2020.
  • The university authorities have taken the necessary measures to enable the implementation of the curriculum and ongoing verification of learning outcomes. Teaching classes for all types and fields of study were organized online and using an e-learning platform.
  • From May 2020, the Private University of Social, Computer and Medical Sciences changed its name to the Medical University of Warsaw. Tadeusz Koźluk. Like PWSBiA, it is listed in the university register under number "1". A few years ago, the university's previous experience, the needs of the changing labor market, and the aging of the population directed the activities of the university authorities towards the development of educational fields related to the needs of the health care system.
  • September 26, 2020, rector Dr. Waldemar Dębski, prof. WUMed opened the 2020/21 academic year. As the university's rector stated in his speech, it was an inauguration with several historical references. There was an opening:
  • the first academic year in the history of the Tadeusz Koźluk Medical University of Warsaw;
  • the 30th anniversary of the academic year of the university, which was founded in June 1991 by Professor Tadeusz Koźluk under the name Private Higher School of Business and Administration (WUMed is the legal continuator of this university);
  • the 30th academic year in the history of non-public higher education in free Poland, because PWSBiA was the first non-public university in our country established after the political changes in 1989.
  • After the inauguration, former employees of PWSBiA, accompanied by members of the Senate, and guests who came to the inauguration, laid flowers at the commemorative plaque dedicated to the memory of the founder of the university and its long-time rector, prof. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk. They also took part in the opening of the photographic exhibition entitled "30 years of our university in photography. From the Private University of Business and Administration to the Medical University of Warsaw.
  • • In 2021, the rector of our university applied to the Ministers of Education, Science and Health for WUMed to obtain consent to conduct two new fields of study: midwifery - bachelor's and master's studies and emergency medical services - bachelor's studies. In September 2021, the university obtained consent to launch the above-mentioned. directions.
  • • In November 2020, under the supervision of Vice-Rector Dr. Hab. J. Jasińska, the 1st National Scientific Conference "Modern nurse and midwife in the era of current health needs and threats", and in May 2021, the 2nd Conference on the mission and professionalization of the profession of nurse and midwife.
  • The proceedings of both conferences aroused great interest in the medical community.
  • In May 2021, an exhibition entitled "30th anniversary of our University. From the Private University of Business and Administration to the Medical University of Warsaw. Tadeusz Koźluk. The 20 boards present, among others: information about the university's patron, the most important events in its history, profiles of lecturers, program initiatives, activities of student organizations, the establishment of WUMed and further prospects for its development. Brief information on the above. the topics were enriched with about 80 photos illustrating the history of PWSBiA and the activities of WUMed. • In September, our university released an album titled "Yesterday Today Tomorrow. From the Private University of Business and Administration to the Medical University of Warsaw named after Tadeusz Koźluk (1991-2021).” This publication presents in a condensed way the rich history of PWSBiA, the current activities of WUMed and plans for the future of the university, and illustrates its history through the publication of many photos. The album also includes the names of academic teachers and administration employees who contributed to the creation, development and enrichment of the achievements of our university. • On September 25, 2021, the ceremonial inauguration of the 2021/22 academic year took place, combined with a summary of the celebration of the 30th anniversary of PWSBiA. It was attended by over 500 first-year students, approximately 90 former PWSBiA employees and representatives of the medical community (from the Ministry of Health, hospitals cooperating with the university). Former employees of PWSBiA received from the Rector of WUMed, Dr. W. Dębski's written thanks for their contribution to the development of the university and the above-mentioned album. • On October 15, 2021, Rector Dr. Waldemar Dębski and the President of the Management Board of the National Center for Health Prevention in Warsaw, Brig. Andrzej Trybusz, M.D., signed a letter of intent regarding cooperation in the area of health development and prevention. The agreement provides for, among others: scholarship programs for university students, internships in Diagnostic and Rehabilitation Centers in Poland and other EU countries for students and lecturers, joint scientific research and projects in the field of health prevention.

 2015-2017

  • In the academic year 2014/15, students started classes in the field of cosmetology, and in the academic year 2015/16, in the field of dietetics, the first fields of study in the field of health sciences.
  •  On June 23, 2016, a ceremonial meeting of the Senate was organized to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the university. It was attended by employees of the university, the New Horizons Foundation and former lecturers invited by the founder of the university. Approximately 20 people who made particular contributions to the development of PWSBiA were thanked for their work. Founder of PWSBiA prof. Dr. T. Koźluk recalled the beginnings of the university, its achievements and the currently difficult situation related to the demographic decline.
  • In September 2016, due to the systematic decrease in the number of students, the founder of the university, prof. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk decided to liquidate the basic organizational units of the university, i.e. faculties. Faculty councils were also abolished, and their competences regarding study programs were taken over by the Senate, and the tasks of heads of basic organizational units were taken over by the Rector. In order to coordinate the course of studies in individual fields, the positions of heads of studies were created.
  • In February 2017, Dr. Marek Ciecierski, prof. PWSBiA resigned for personal reasons from the position of rector, which was taken over by the founder of the university. Prof. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk made this decision despite his poor health, taking into account the need for continuity of management. He created the position of vice-rector - 1st deputy rector, to which he appointed Dr. Eng. Jerzy Rzytki.
  • In 2017, all fields of study changed their profile from general academic to practical.

2009 - 2014

  •  In October 2012. a conference was organized on the Innovation Creator project regarding the use of multimedia and Internet tools in promotional campaigns of small and medium-sized enterprises.
  • In December 2013, the name of the university was changed to Private Higher School of Social, Computer and Medical Sciences based in Warsaw.
  • In June 2014, the university became a signatory to the Pact for the Horizon 2020 Program. Horizon 2020 is the largest ever program for financing scientific research and innovation in Europe from European Union funds.

 2007 - 2008

 

  • In January 2007, the name of the university was changed to Private Higher School of Business, Administration and Information Technology based in Warsaw.
  • The structure of the teaching department has changed. The basic organizational units of the university are the institutes of: Modern Diplomacy and Administration, Economics and Computer Technologies and Law.
  • In March 2008, the founding meeting of the PWSBiA Alumni Association "Bobrowiecka" was held. The Association's authorities were elected and the Statute was approved.
  • Also in March 2008, the International Language Conference on modern methods of teaching English was held. The conference gathered over 90 participants, including speakers including: from: Great Britain, Belarus, Turkey, Croatia, Taiwan and representatives of Polish universities and language centers. The conference is cyclical.

2001 - 2006

  • In 2001, the 10th anniversary of PWSBiA was celebrated. The 1st Alumni Meeting was organized. His Rector handed over the "Charter of Rights and Obligations of PWSBiA Graduates" to the graduates.
  • In 2001, the university received permission to conduct uniform master's studies in the field of "law", and in 2003 - to conduct engineering studies in the field of "informatics". Computer automation and robotics have become a unique new specialization in this field.
  • In 2001, the publication of Zeszyty Naukowe began. In 2002, the university obtained permission to open the UN Depository Library. We are the only university in Poland that receives a full library deposit of UN documents and publications. As a result of a scholarship program initiated by the rector of the State University of Applied Sciences and Humanities, addressed to academic teachers from former Soviet republics, five lecturers from Latvia, Ukraine and Russia spent 3 months at our university conducting scientific research.
  • In 2003, the university signed agreements on mutual cooperation, among others, with: the State Institute of Economics and Finance and the State Technical University of Saint Petersburg, as well as with the National Academy of Ukraine. • In cooperation with the World Bar Association, five international scientific conferences devoted to immigration issues were organized in 2001-2006. They were attended by representatives of thirty countries, Polish universities and representatives of embassies accredited in Poland. In 2003, an international conference on the labor market was organized, in 2005 - on trends in economics in the era of globalization, and in 2006 - on the gray economic zone.
  • In 2005, the 2nd Alumni Reunion was organized, which ended with a grand ball. In the same year, in the ranking conducted by the weekly Newsweek Polska, our university took first place among 138 non-state universities. The main criterion of the ranking was the number of graduates holding positions at the middle management level of the company.
  • In 2006, the 15th anniversary of the university was celebrated. During the inauguration of the academic year 2006/2007 (October 7, 2006), combined with the end of the 15th anniversary celebrations, His Rector, prof. Dr. Tadeusz Koźluk presented awards to academic teachers and administration employees who made the most contributions to the establishment and development of the university. The university's banner was decorated with a commemorative medal. Work on the PWSBiA Chronicle has been completed.
  • In 2006, Professor Tatiana A. Gavrilova from the Saint Petersburg University of Technology delivered another series of lectures. Since January 2006, the following people have worked at our university: prof. James Horner from the American Cameron University in Oklahoma and prof. Wandyr Hagge Siqueira from Sociedade de Ensino Superior Estácio de Sá - a prestigious private university in Rio de Janeiro.
  • In the same year, the European Center for Strategic Research and Specialized Studies was established together with the "Poland – Century XXI" Foundation.

1996 - 2000

 

  • During the first five years of the university's existence, teaching classes took place in several different places. In the years 1993-1995, the university's headquarters was located on Wołoska Street in the "Unitry" building. Since 1996, PWSBiA has had its own modern facility at 9 Bobrowiecka Street, with 60 lecture halls, over a dozen studios, 3 libraries, restaurants and bars, sports halls, as well as a congress hall for 2,500 seats, an amphitheater with 800 seats, and a guarded parking lot for 210 cars.
  • In 1997, the university received permission from the Minister of National Education to award master's degrees to graduates of the "administration" field. A year earlier, a specialization called "modern diplomacy and foreign services" was created in this field, which was very popular among students.
  • In 1998, the university's thousandth graduate received a master's degree. In 1999, the university expanded its educational offer by opening Junior High School No. 34. Both it and the general secondary school are located on the university campus.
  •  In 1998, at the initiative of the Student Government, a conference on violence prevention was organized, which met with wide interest from the academic community, the media and the parliament.

1992 - 1995

  • In 1993, PWSBiA was the first non-public university to receive the right to award a master's degree in economics. The first graduates - masters in economics - left the university in 1995. In 1992, studies in the field of "administration" were launched, and from 1993 - postgraduate MBA studies. In 1992, the university library and scientific publishing house began operating, and the first computer and foreign language laboratories were opened.
  • In 1993, the first foreign academic teacher visited the university, Dr. Theresa M. Rosania from the USA, who spent the entire trimester at PWSBiA, teaching the principles of promotion and marketing.
  • In 1992, the Student Government began its activity, organizing training and company presentations, as well as conducting its own educational projects. The following year, AIESEC, an international organization of economics students, was established - the first in a private university. The oldest branch of the Academic Sports Association in non-public education has been operating since 1994, and its members participate in numerous sports competitions at local and national levels.
  • In 1994, the Student Consultation Center was established. In the same year, the university founded a non-public general secondary school, as an institution referring to the tradition of the first non-public technical school of Wawelberg and Rotwand founded in 1895.

1991

The Private University of Business and Administration is the oldest private university in Poland and Central and Eastern Europe. It was established by the decision of the Minister of National Education on June 29, 1991. The founder and founder of the university, Tadeusz Koźluk, became its first Rector.

  • The university was entered into the register of non-public universities under number 1. As stated in its first statute: "the aim of the university is to educate specialists - practitioners for the needs of business and administration at the highest possible level and to conduct scientific and research activities."
  • The first scientific programs were created on the basis of their counterparts from the most prestigious universities in the United States and Europe.
  • In the first academic year 1991/1992, approximately 400 students started studies in economics.
